SD Word Counter does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data whatsoever. We do not track your browsing activity, reading habits, text selections, or any other information about how you use the web.

What the Extension Does

When you manually select text on a webpage, the extension reads that selected text locally within your browser to calculate word count, character count, sentence count, and estimated reading time. This entire process happens on your device inside your browser. No text, no selections, and no results ever leave your browser or get sent anywhere.

Your Toggle and Count Preferences

The extension saves your toggle state (on or off) and your last word count result using Chrome’s built in sync storage. This data is stored locally in your browser and synced across your own Chrome profile only. It is never sent to Sumit Dynamics or any third party.

Permissions We Use

The extension requests the following permissions:

Storage permission is used to remember your toggle preference and last word count so your settings are restored when you reopen the extension.

ActiveTab permission is used to send a message from the popup to the current tab when you toggle the extension on or off, so counting mode activates instantly without needing a page reload.

Host permission for all URLs is required so the word counter can work on every website you visit including social media platforms, blogs, and web applications. The extension only activates when you manually select text and does not read, scan, or monitor any page content automatically.

Third Party Services

SD Word Counter does not use any third party analytics tools, advertising networks, tracking scripts, or external services of any kind. No data is shared with anyone.

Children’s Privacy

This extension does not collect any data from anyone, including children. It is safe for use by all ages.
